16 Jul Five boys rescued from trafficking and reunited with families
We’re delighted to share that five Nepali boys have been rescued from India and reunited with their families, thanks to local authorities and Child Rescue Nepal.
The boys, from one of Nepal’s most marginalized communities, endured a distressing ordeal. Four were intercepted by Indian police while being trafficked under false promises of “good jobs” in Punjab. The fifth boy was separated from his family during a bike ride, when he inadvertently crossed into India, and became stranded after his bike was stolen. He sheltered at a railway station, where he was picked up by local police and placed in an Indian children’s home, where he stayed for six months.
Without proper documentation, their return to Nepal seemed impossible.
Life in the Indian children’s home was challenging for these boys. However, a coordinated effort by the Nepalese Embassy, our partner Shakti Samuha, an Indian charity, and Child Rescue Nepal successfully brought them back to safety.
Their stories highlight the importance of ongoing support. Child Rescue Nepal is committed to ensuring these children’s wellbeing and will continue to support them into adulthood, ensuring they lead safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
Generous donations make such rescues possible, giving hope and a chance at a better future to other children in similar situations.
